Makeover

This final assignment for the blog has really taught me a lot. I wish that I would have known all of the different things you can add and change to your blog. Just from this assignment I may continue posting on this blog or create a new blog.

Also I did not know you could add information to WIKIPEDIA. I really enjoyed doing that assignment and I may continue to edit on that as well. I posted on the Catholic page of WIKIPEDIA, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic.

I feel that this is a great discussion between two catholics that have different beliefs. The priest staed that if you are a member of the Catholic Church and annouce your beliefs but they do not match exactally what the Catholic Church believes then you should not express your opinion. I feel that the priest is wrong in saying this. I was always brought up as a Catholic and even if you do not fully believe on a paticular issue, in this example Sean did not believe in the priests views about non Catholics using birth control you are not a devout Catholic. Both Sean and the priest made very good points in this discussion but I was shcoked to hear that the priest would deny Sean communion if he came to his church.

Answer to question

Question
It is clear to see that Obama is for allowing the practice of abortion to be legal, and that McCain wants abortion to be banned. However, both seem to agree that a marriage should be between a man and a woman, not people of the same sex. With the different views on abortion, but similar views on marriage, would it still be safe to safe Obama is strictly pro-choice and McCain is strictly pro-life (following mainly the abortion case)? What other situations do you think Obama would consider that McCain would be strongly against?

Answer

Yes I would say it is safe to say that Obama is pro-choice and McCain is pro-life. McCain has stated that there are some situations to where he believes that abortion is okay, these include, rape, incest, or if the pregnancy was endangering the mothers life. It was not stated anywhere that I found but I believe that Obama may have different moral issues with abortion but legally he believes that women have a right to have an abortion.

One main issue that these two did not see eye to eye on is the war. McCain opposes with scheduling a troop withdrawal while Obama speaks against the war and is not for more troops to be sent into war. Obama has gone into more detail on education than McCain. Neither of the parties are against education by any means but Obama wanted to do more for the students in school and the teachers. McCain stated that he believes that the Second Amendment should be preserved, which means no gun control while Obama wants to tighten regulation.

Assignement from ethelo.com

My question to Adam. I believe that Obama had great views on lobbyist in his campaign. You stated in your blog that, "They have not funded my campaign, they will not run my White House, and they will not drown out the voices of the American people when I am president." I believe that this can be good but also can be detrimental at times too. What are a few main lobbyist that will not stay out of the government, and do you believe that this could be good or bad?

“Obama’s campaign not only refuses to accept contributions from federal lobbyists or political action committees but also addresses lobbyist involvement in government as a problem and has come up with actions to end it. Two of his ideas include making the lobbyist involvement more visible to the American people by creating an internet database of lobbyist activities and putting an end to no-bid contracts. Under his plan, any contract over the amount of $25,000 would have to be competitively awarded.” When researching the two presidential candidates I did not focus much of my attention to lobbying. This blog was very informative to me and I learned a lot. I hope that Obama implements the internet database to where citizens will be able to view the involvement of lobbyist.
